Andrew Moore Tabbed To Lead Oregon State’s Pitching Staff
June 20, 2026 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Former Oregon State All-American and Major League pitcher Andrew Moore has been tabbed to take over the Beavers' pitching staff as an assistant coach, Mitch Canham announced Saturday.
Moore returns to Corvallis after three seasons as a pitching coach in the Cleveland Guardians organization, including separate stints at Triple-A Columbus.
"Andrew is a Beaver through and through and I am excited to bring him and his family back to Corvallis," said Canham, the Pat Casey Head Coach at Oregon State. "He excelled on the mound during his playing career and has established himself as a well-respected and exceptional pitching coach during his time in professional baseball. Oregon State's pitching will benefit immensely from his addition to the coaching staff and I can't wait to see him back in the Orange and Black."
Moore's first pitching staff at Columbus, in 2024, saw the Clippers post a 4.70 ERA, among the best in the International League. Columbus ranked fifth in the IL with 1,392 strikeouts over 1,278 innings, and held opponents to a .243 batting average.
Moore then worked with Cleveland's pitchers at the High-A level in 2025, in Lake County, and saw the staff post a 3.89 ERA and 1,162 strikeouts in 1,149 2/3 innings. Josh Hartle, one of Cleveland's top-30 prospects, went 10-2 with a 2.35 ERA in 103 1/3 innings and was named the Midwest League's Pitcher of the Year.
Moore returned to Columbus for the 2026 season, where he's currently on the Clippers' staff. Franco Aleman, Will Dion and Daniel Espino have all made their Major League Baseball debuts this season after pitching for Columbus.
"I am very excited to be back in Corvallis and compete for a National Championship along a fantastic coaching staff at a place that has meant so much to me," Moore said. "I'm ready to get to work with this special group of young men who are ready to achieve great things on and off the field in Corvallis. We're going to continue having Oregon State as being a nationally premier pitching program."
His appointment is contingent on the completion of all university hiring processes.
Moore pitched for the Beavers from 2013-15, appearing in 51 games, 48 of which were starts. He went 27-9 during his three seasons in Corvallis, finishing with a 2.10 earned run average. His 27 career victories rank ninth in the Oregon State record books, while his 2.10 is good for third. He also struck out 251 in his collegiate career, ranking 10th.
Fourteen of Moore's 27 wins came in 2013, helping push him to All-America honors. The 14 wins, at the time, tied the Oregon State single-season record, and his three shutouts that year are tied for fifth.
He went 6-5 the next season and struck out 14 in an NCAA Regional game, the most by an Oregon State pitcher in the postseason since at least 1983. He ended his career with a 7-2 mark and 1.91 ERA as a junior, leading the Beavers to a third NCAA postseason appearance when Oregon State competed against Texas in the Dallas Regional. He was named an All-American for a second time following the 2015 season.
The Eugene, Ore., native was drafted in the second round by Seattle after his junior campaign. He made his Major League debut on June 22, 2017, limiting Detroit to six hits and three runs in seven innings, striking out four. Moore pitched in 12 games over two seasons – 2017 and 2019 – for Seattle, earning a win and throwing in 63 2/3 innings.
