Oregon State's Recruiting Class Ranked 9th
October 23, 2015 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State baseball's recruiting class – currently on campus preparing for the 2016 season – has been ranked as the ninth-best nationally according to D1baseball.com.
The D1 ranking comes after both Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America ranked the class 12th.
“This is a sleeper class that deserves more credit than 'the consensus' may be giving it at the moment,” D1Baseball.com writer Frankie Piliere wrote. “It's a crop that is reasonating in a big way with scouts that are seeing this squad this fall.”
The Beavers have three MLB Draft choices from June on the roster in Nick Madrigal (17th round), Cadyn Grenier (21st round) and Trevor Larnach (40th round). All three turned down the opportunity to turn pro and instead will be freshman on a club that returns Pac-12 First Teamers Drew Rasmussen and KJ Harrison. Both were named Freshman All-Americans last season, as was right-handed pitcher Mitch Hickey.
Oregon State will soon be concluding its fall workouts. The club will hit the field again in January in preparation for the 2016 season, which opens Feb. 19 when the Beavers take on Utah Valley in Surprise, Ariz.
The complete 2016 schedule will be released soon.
