Beavers’ Four Homers Pave The Way To 7-5 Win
March 13, 2026 | Baseball
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Four different Beavers hit home runs – setting a season-high – to pace 18th-ranked Oregon State to a 7-5 series-opening win over San Diego Friday night at Fowler Park and Cunningham Field.
Â
The win, Oregon State's seventh in-a-row, was also the Beavers' 10th consecutive against the Toreros dating back to 2016. OSU (12-4 overall) is 15-10 all-time against San Diego.
Â
Easton Talt and Josh Proctor hit back-to-back home runs in the first. Talt, the game's third batter, hit his first of the year to make it a 2-0 OSU lead. Proctor made it 3-0 with a shot to left, his third long ball of the season.
Â
Paul Vazquez followed those long balls up with a fifth-inning solo shot. His second home run of the season hit off the batter's eye in center field.
Â
Jacob Krieg belted the 27th of his career in the seventh, sending the first pitch he saw over the fence in left center. His 27 tie him for ninth all-time at Oregon State.
Â
San Diego (7-10), down 7-2 entering the eighth, pulled to within two thanks to a groundout by Gage Mestas and single by Jayton Greer. Noah Scott, who worked one inning, was able to get out of the frame with no more damage, inducing a fly ball to end the frame. That led to Albert Roblez throwing in the ninth, picking up his sixth save of the season.
Â
Dax Whitney started for the Beavers and the right-hander improved to 3-0 on the year after five innings of work. He struck out nine – and has 54 on the year – while scattering three hits, two walks and an unearned run.
Â
San Diego's Diego Gutierrez started and allowed five hits and four runs in five innings of work. He took the loss to drop to 1-2 on the year.
Â
Jacob Galloway extended his hit streak to 10 games with a 2-for-5 night. Talt, Vazquez and AJ Singer all had two hits as well.
Â
The teams continue the three-game series Friday at Fowler Park and Cunningham Field. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. PT and it will air live on ESPN+ and the Beaver Sports Network.
