
Beavers Make it Five Straight with Road Victory over Cougars

Pullman, Wash. – Junior Sage Indendi (Livingston, Mont.) scored all 10 of her points in the second half to lead the Oregon State women's basketball team to its fifth straight Pac-12 win over Washington State, 51-39, on Thursday evening in Beasley Coliseum.
Oregon State (16-7, 7-5 Pac-12) outscored the Cougars 29-13 in the second half to overcome a 26-22 first half deficit with Indendi hitting three field goals and shooting a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line down the stretch.
After the Cougars scored the first basket of the second half, the Beavers went on a 8-2 run that spurred the final lead change at the 34-33 mark with 11:16 remaining on a pair of free throws by freshman Ali Gibson (Woodbridge, Calif.).
Washington State (10-14, 4-8 Pac-12) was held scoreless for over 11 minutes as the Beavers worked their way to the line and scored four easy buckets, scoring 17 points in the stretch, essentially sealing the win with their largest lead of 14 coming with just under a minute to play as the Cougars were forced to foul down the stretch.
Oregon State held the Cougars to just 12.1 percent from the field in the second half, 23.7 percent overall. The Beavers also outrebounded Washington State 50-35, shooting 70 percent from the free throw line.
The Beavers went inside early, scoring 16 of their 22 first half points in the paint, led by junior Thais Pinto's (Belo Horizonte, Brazil), who scored nine of her game-high 12 points in the first half.
Junior Patricia Bright (Phoenix, Ariz.) opened up the game with the first four points of the game with Oregon State holding Washington State to perimeter shots that the Cougars struggled to hit. But coming off the bench, senior Rosie Tarnowski hit back-to-back three-pointers to spur a 9-0 run.
Oregon State battled back to tie the game at 17, but the Cougars were able to take the lead into the locker room at halftime.
Washington State's Sage Romberg tallied a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Cougars.
Oregon State completes the Washington swing against the Huskies on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Alaska Airlines Arena.
Oregon State Notes:
- The last time Oregon State won five straight conference games was in 2000-01.
- Oregon State snaps a Washington State three-game series winning streak, marking the first win over the Cougars under head coach Scott Rueck.
- Oregon State is now 45-25 all-time against Washington State.
- Seven conference wins is the most for the Beavers since 2008-09.
- The Beavers have held their opponents under 30 percent shooting five times so far this season, second in Pac-12 play.
