SAN DIEGO, Calif. - John Tommasini had three hits and Ryan Dunn drove in three to pace the 21st-ranked Oregon State baseball team to a 10-7 win over Pacific Thursday afternoon at Cunningham Stadium.
Three other Beavers finished with two hits apiece - Danny Hayes, Ryan Barnes and Kavin Keyes - to help the Beavers offensively. Oregon State finished the game with 12 hits and seven walks.
Dunn, meanwhile, had a 1-for-3 day and drove in three runs. He singled home two in the second and another on a groundout in the seventh.
Tommasini singled twice, doubled once and finished with one RBI. He was one hit shy of tying his career high of four last achieved against Missouri Stat in 2009.
Oregon State (4-1 overall) got on the board first, taking a 5-0 lead through the first two innings. Dylan Davis and Keyes drove in runs in the first, followed by Barnes and Dunn in the second.
OSU scored runs in five of the first seven innings, but Pacific (0-5) managed at least one in each of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to pull within one, 8-7, after six full.
The Beavers extended the lead to 10-7 in the seventh when Tyler Smith walked with the bases loaded and Dunn drove in his third run of the game when he grounded out to third in the next OSU at bat.
Ben Wetzler started for the Beavers and allowed eight hits and six runs over five full innings. He left the game with a runner on first and no out in the sixth in favor of reliever Taylor Starr.
Wetzler picked up the win to improve to 2-0 this season. Starr, meanwhile, worked 3 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and a run with two strikeouts.
Starr was replaced by Matt Boyd, who recorded the final two outs for his first save of the season.
The Beavers scored their first five runs off Pacific starter Paul Moeller. He left after 1 2/3 innings where he allowed six hits and five runs before being replaced by right-hander Bryce Lombardi.
Moeller took the loss to fall to 0-1 this season.
Justin Simms, Curtis Gomez, Dustin Torchio and Peter Miller all had two hits for the Tigers.
