Los Angeles, Calif. – Junior Camille Saxton (Balzac, Alberta) killed a match-high tying 13 balls, but the Oregon State volleyball team (11-8, 3-6 Pac-12) fell in three (14-25, 17-25, 14-25) to No. 6 UCLA (15-3, 8-2 Pac-12) on Friday evening in the John R. Wooden Center.
“Today was a very tough effort by the team,” head coach Taras Liskevych said. “Camille [Saxton] played at her normal level, but we didn't block or dig the ball very well. But the main skill that hurt us early in the first and second sets was our passing. That leads to sideout efficiency, where if you're siding out under 65 percent, you're in trouble. We need to go back to the drawing board and look at a couple of things.”
Defensively, sophomore Becky Defoe (Bend, Ore.) tallied 10 digs, while junior Megan McBride (Auburn, Wash.) and redshirt freshman Allie Rogers (Eugene, Ore.) had three blocks.
The Bruins' Tabi Love had 13 kills, while Lainey Gera had 17 digs.
Oregon State concludes its trip in Los Angeles at No. 3 USC on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
