BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) - Joe Shipp came off the bench to score a season-high 21 points to lead California to an 81-67 win over injury-riddled Oregon State on Saturday night.
Sean Lampley added 20 points and six rebounds for the Bears (11-4, 3-1 in the Pac-10), who won their 12th consecutive game at Haas Pavilion dating back to last season.
Brian Jackson matched Shipp with 21 points to lead Oregon State (0-3, 6-9), which was forced to play the final 4:45 with just six players after Jackson fouled out. The Beavers, decimated by injuries that left them with only seven players suited up, were without center Jason Heide, the team's leading scorer and rebounder who aggravated an ankle injury in Thursday's 73-49 loss to Stanford.
The Bears, by comparison, used all 15 of their players after emptying the bench in the final minutes of the game.
California led 39-23 at halftime but rode the hot shooting of Shipp and Solomon Hughes. Shipp, averaging 7.2 points a game prior to facing Oregon State, scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half and combined with Hughes to score 17 of the Bears' 19 points during one stretch.
Hughes finished with 14 points and six rebounds for the Bears, who won for the 10th time in their last 11 games.
Oregon State entered the game leading the Pac-10 in defense, allowing only an average of 59.9 points a game. But it was the Beavers' offense that kept them in the game, as they sank seven 3-pointers in the second half and 12 overall.
Deaundra Tanner's lay-up on a backdoor pass from Mike Cokley with 9:30 left to play pulled Oregon State within 57-47, but the Beavers could get no closer.
Emonte Jernigan scored 20 points while Tanner added 16 for Oregon State, which lost its fourth straight game and nine of its last 11.
