CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Deaundra Tanner scored 17 points as Oregon State handed Washington State a record 28th straight Pac-10 road loss with a 67-62 victory Thursday night.
The win also snapped a four-game losing streak for the Beavers (7-9, 1-3 Pac-10).
The Cougars (7-7, 1-4) have not won on the road in the conference since Jan. 15, 1998, when they beat Oregon State. Washington State had shared the record with Oregon, which had its run of futility from 1991-94.
Mike Bush led Washington State with 20 points.
A 3-pointer by Josh Steinthal and two layups from Adam Masten gave Oregon State a 49-34 lead with 11:26 remaining in the game. Washington State came back with a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to 51-44 with 7:15 to play. But the Cougars couldn't get closer than four in the final minutes.
Jimmie Haywood, coming off a two-game suspension for violating unspecified team rules, added 12 points for the Beavers, as Brian Jackson and Masten. Jackson fouled out for the sixth time in 11 games, leaving the injury-plagued Beavers with just seven players.
With the Beavers leading 27-24, Haywood stole the ball from Bush and found Jackson for a dunk with 15 seconds to play in the first half. Haywood, who hit all three of his 3-pointers, hit one from long range as time ran out to put the Beavers ahead 32-24.
