Ryan Lawrence joined the Oregon State men’s basketball program as the Director of Basketball Operations prior to the 2021-22 season.
In his role, Lawrence in responsible for travel, team meals and the team budget, and is the liaison between the program and numerous other departments.
Lawrence spent the prior four years working at Oregon State as the athletics equipment coordinator for the men’s basketball, women’s basketball and football programs. He was with the Beavers’ basketball team during the run to the 2021 Pac-12 Tournament championship and the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight.
A native of Lacey, Wash., Lawrence began his professional career in 2008 as the assistant director of equipment operations at the United State Naval Academy. During his 13 months in Annapolis, he projected and presented budget requirements and worked closely with the men’s basketball, women’s basketball and women’s tennis programs.
Lawrence worked at the University of Oklahoma from August 2009 through February 2017 as an assistant equipment manager. During that time, he coordinated the transportation of equipment to road games, planned the budget for long-term equipment needs, supervised student managers and graduate assistants, and handled the scheduling of practices and shootarounds for the women’s basketball program.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Washington State University in 2008. While attending WSU, he was a student equipment manager for the athletic department and an operations intern with the women’s basketball program. Lawrence was recognized for his efforts with a segment on local Spokane sports station KHQ.
Lawrence was born on July 25, 1985 in Wurzburg, Germany. He and his wife, Megan, live in Philomath and have a son, Carter, and daughter, Ellie.
