CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State volleyball is back at home this Friday, welcoming the Portland State Vikings to Gill Coliseum before traveling down I-5 to face the No. 23 Oregon Ducks on Sunday.

IN-STATE:
Playing a pair of opponents from the state of Oregon this weekend, there is a pair of Beaver athletes who are playing on home soil in Cheyenne Green and Bridget Gould. Gould, a native of North Bend, spent her freshman season at Oregon, while Green grew up just 10 miles south of Eugene in Pleasant Hill.

BATTLED:
Though Oregon State fell in each match, it held leads in several sets throughout last weekend's competition in Los Angeles. During Friday's match with No. 23 Colorado, OSU was up early before using a 6-0 run to level at 18 in the first set and held a lead at 9-7 in the second set. The team was within one point of winning the third set, up 24-23, but the Buffaloes went on a run to claim victory. In Saturday's matchup with Arizona, the Beavers were up 15-11 in the first set and were once again within a point of winning the fourth set, up 24-22, but UA went on a long run to win.

DOMINANT:
OSU was dominant in the third set of Friday's match against Arizona, winning 25-16. Runs of 5-0, 6-0 and 4-0 helped as Alana Marrs (five kills) and Cheyenne Green (four kills) took over. The lead twice reached double-digits, AC Froehlich making it 20-10 and Taray Tela smashing one home to push the lead to 21-11; OSU then managed the rest of the way to win that set.

BERTELSEN'S BIG DAY:
Isabel Bertelsen played a huge role for the Beavers against Arizona, totaling a season-high 25 digs, an average of 6.25 per set. Saturday's performance was the latest in a strong run of performances from the Orlando, Fla., native, as the 25 digs were the fourth most in a single match by any athlete in the Pac-12 this season, and it was her fourth double-digit performance in the last five matches.

TAKING OVER:
AC Froehlich tied her season and career high with 18 kills, averaging 4.5 per set, as part of a double-double that also included 15 digs, two blocks and an ace on Saturday against the Wildcats. She's been stellar this season for the Beavers, totaling 11 or more kills in seven of nine matches. Entering this weekend's matches, Froehlich ranks third in the conference for kills (116), kills per set (3.87), and points (131), ranking fourth with 4.37 points per set.

FIRSTS:
Beatrice Spada made her first career start against Colorado and had a solid showing, posting a line of six kills, five digs and two blocks. The next day, she totaled five kills, seven digs and two blocks. A true freshman from Verona, Italy, Spada has played in eight matches this season and holds per set averages of 1.24 points, 1.00 kills and 0.83 digs.

LEAGUE LEADERS:
Through nine matches played, there are several Beaver student-athletes who rank among the Pac-12's elite. Middles Alana Marrs and Taray Tela sit at No. 8 and No. 10 for hitting percentage, while Jackie Matias' 9.60 assists per set is third best. Marrs' 1.34 blocks per set ranks third while Taylor Treahy ranks eighth with 3.30 kills per set. Bertelsen, who's averaging 0.37 service aces per set, sits in a three-way tie for sixth with 3.53 digs per set, while Treahy is No. 7 for points per set.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:
- OSU had two more kills than Arizona, tallying 54 in the match, while hitting at a higher percentage.

- Jackie Matias recorded her third double-double of the season against the Wildcats and was one dig away from another the previous day when the Beavers faced No. 23 Colorado.

- There are four Beavers who have played in every single set this season: Bertelsen, Froehlich, Matias and Yasemin Narlioglu.

A NEW ERA STARTS NOW
OSU is back in the Pac-12 after two seasons competing in the West Coast Conference, adding Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State to a conference that already included the Beavers and Washington State. Also new this season is the first ever Pac-12 Championship Tournament, which will take place the week of Nov. 23 on the campus of whichever team posts the highest first half conference winning percentage.
