Rodnei Santos is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Oregon State volleyball team.
Santos joined the program in 2016 after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Bowling Green, where he helped the Falcons to their first win over top 25 team when beating then-No. 13 BYU in 2013. Bowling Green also defeated its first team from the ACC in nearly 15 seasons when defeating Notre Dame in 2015.
During his tenure, the Falcons saw three players named first team All-Mid-American Conference, and six were named player of the Week. Bowling Green also placed 17 student-athletes on the Academic All-MAC teams.
Santos, a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, joined the Bowling Green program after two seasons as a volunteer assistant and GA at Central Michigan. The school made its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011, his first season in Mount Pleasant.
He has also served as a head coach of the CT Impact Volleyball Club and as an assistant coach with John Jay High School. He’s also the staff/lead coach for the Gold Medal Squared Coaches Clinics.
Santos played two seasons at Pepperdine, averaging 2.21 kills and 1.27 blocks per set over 52 career matches. He was named to the MPSF All-Academic Team both seasons.
He transferred to Pepperdine after one season at BYU, in 2007. Appearing in 25 matches, he averaged 1.63 kills per set and hit .402 on the year.
Santos graduated from Pepperdine in 2010 with a bachelor of arts in psychology and sociology. He also has a master of arts in sport administration from Central Michigan in 2013.
Santos is married to Laura DeBruler-Santos, an assistant coach with the Beavers.
