Peter Manguiat completed his first season at Oregon State after joining the staff in January 2023 directly behind the past two seasons with Cal Poly as an assistant.Â
In his first season on staff, the Beavers had a double-digit win total that included a five-match win streak and numerous sweeps with Mychael Vernon being named to the All-Pac-12 team. For the first time in nearly 10 years, the Beavers knocked off a pair of ranked teams, one of which was sixth-ranked Washington State.Â
Some of the highlights of the seasons included:Â
Ahead of his time in San Luis Obispo, he spent two years at Pittsburgh - on staff with Head Coach Behonick - where he served as both interim assistant coach and the director of volleyball operations. His second stint with the Panthers, he helped lead Pitt to their first Elite Eight in program history and a number five ranking. A trio of Panther student-athletes were named All-America in the timeframe.Â
Prior to that, Manguiat served as an assistant coach at Marist College for two seasons in 2017-18. There, he coached three players who earned All-MAAC honors.
In 2016, he was the volunteer assistant coach at Pitt during his first stint there. That year, he was part of the coaching staff that guided the program to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 12 years.
An Oakland, Calif. native, Manguiat attended Springfield College where he played from 2007-10 where he won two NCAA Division III national championships. He ranks in the top 10 in school history for career serve reception percentage.
