David McDonald joined the Oregon State University in August of 2012 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. He will be working primarily with the women's volleyball and men's crew teams.
McDonald came to Oregon State after serving as the Head Men's Basketball Athletic Trainer at Lamar University for three years helping the program to the NCAA tournament in 2012. While at Lamar, he was also responsible for teaching multiple athletic training classes in the university's Health and Kinesiology Department.
Prior to joining Lamar, McDonald completed a two-year stint as a graduate assistant at Texas Christian University(TCU) where he worked with the Horned Frogs' nationally-ranked football program. He earned a master's degree in Educational Administration in May of 2009.
He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training from Oklahoma State University in 2007, where he was an Athletic Training Student for numerous programs but primarily the Cowboy basketball and football squads.
McDonald also served as an athletic training intern with the Arizona Cardinals Football Club in 2006.
McDonald is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and Registered Athletic Trainer in the State of Oregon. He is also a Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) in the state of Texas. He holds additional Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) and Corrective
Exercise Specialist (CES) advanced specializations, the preferred training credentials of athletic trainers and strength and conditioning coaches of many professional and collegiate teams.
He was also an active member of District 6 (SWATA) and the College and University Athletic Training Committee (CUATC).
The native of Paris, Texas, enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and relaxing, and hanging out with his friends and dog Suzie Q. He resides in Albany, Oregon, with his wife, the former Gabrielle Curtis.
