May 05, 2026 | Softball
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Oregon State softball is headed on the road to finish its regular season, playing three games in three days at Smith Field in Los Angeles, Calif., against the Loyola Marymount Lions.
Oregon State Beavers at LMU
Game one: May 7 / 3 p.m. PT / Watch / Live Stats
Game two: May 8 / 2 p.m. PT / Watch / Live Stats
Game three: May 9 / 11 a.m. PT / Watch / Live Stats
EXPLOSIVE OFFENSE:
The Beaver offense was pivotal in a series win over Seattle U, plating 31 runs across three games played, which is the second most in a single weekend all season behind the 35 runs scored in six games at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. Hitting .396 against the Redhawks, OSU set a new season-best mark for a single series, while the team's eight home runs tied its highest mark for a single weekend, a feat accomplished at the MNCC and across a five-game opening weekend.
59:
The Beavers have boasted a high-powered offense in 2026 that leads the West Coast Conference in home runs, smashing 59 balls over the outfield wall across 50 games, a total that is 17 more than second place Seattle U and more than double that of LMU (27), Pacific (23), San Diego (18) and Santa Clara (17). The success hitting home runs is historic, as the team's total is already second most in a single season in program history, while the record, 61, sits well within striking distance with three games to play.
OSU has seen an improvement in its batting average, currently hitting .289 as a group, which would be the fourth highest in a single season if the season ended today.
BEST OF THE BEST:
With two more home runs against the Redhawks, Jaeya Butler increased her control of the program's single-season record, which now sits at 22, adding to her RBI total with 57 this season, which is also a single-season record; both marks lead the conference. The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native has had a tremendous season in 2026 and enters this weekend's series with a team-leading .387 average while also totaling 16 doubles, one triple, eight stolen bases and an OPS of 1.319.
MOON SHOT:
Down one run in the sixth inning of Oregon State's last matchup, Tristian Thompson hit a ball that cleared the outfield fence by 65 feet and nearly left Kelly Field altogether. With a launch angle of 32.9, Thompson's moon shot traveled 275 feet after leaving the bat at 76 miles per hour to score three runs and turn a one-run deficit into a two-run advantage.
A junior from Waco, Texas, Thompson ranks second on the team with 12 home runs and 38 RBI this season, which rank fourth and seventh in the WCC, respectively, and are new single-season career bests.
THANK YOU SENIORS:
Four different Oregon State student-athletes played their final games at Kelly Field in OSU's last series: Nikki Donahue, Maddy Weir, Morgan Howey and Lici Campbell. Combined, those four have totaled 344 hits, 50 doubles, 48 home runs and 207 RBI across 485 appearances in orange and black.
THE PERFECT VICTORY:
Oregon State softball has played 50 games this season. Across those 50 contests, the team boasts an 18-10 record when scoring first and is 14-5 when out-hitting its opponent, also winning 18 times when hitting at least one home run. The record is 17-8 when leading after four innings, 17-4 when leading after five and 15-2 when holding an advantage after six innings played. In game two against Seattle, a 13-9 victory, OSU accomplished all five of those things.
Butler hit a two-run shot to left in the first inning, scoring the game's first two runs and accounting for the Beavers' first home run. After a seven-run second inning and another Butler blast in the third, OSU held an 11-7 advantage that lasted through the fourth Seattle scored two in the top of the fifth but the Beavers plated one on a wild pitch and were up 12-9 after five, before Rylei Trujillo added a sixth inning insurance run with a single up the middle to make it 13-9 through six completed innings.
FOURTEEN:
Head Coach Laura Berg is now in year 14 leading Beaver softball in 2026, the second longest tenured head coach in program history. Only Kirk Walker (1995-2012; 18 seasons) has spent more time at the helm of the program. Of the eight head coaches in program history, Berg ranks second behind Walker for career victories, while her conference winning percentage is the top mark.
BACK THE PAC:
After two seasons as affiliate members of the WCC, the Beavers will return to the Pac-12 following the 2026 season. Though Washington State and Gonzaga don't have softball programs, the Beavs will resume Pac-12 play with Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State. New members will officially join July 1, 2026.
UP NEXT:
This weekend's series marks the end of the regular season for Beaver softball, who will return to Kelly Field in the spring of 2027.
