Second Inning Offense Crucial in Win Over Seattle U
April 25, 2026 | Softball
Jaeya Butler stuffed the stat sheet, hitting 2-2 with a pair of home runs, four total RBI, two walks and three runs scored, hitting long balls in the first and third innings to make it 22 home runs and 57 RBI on the year, both of which are single season program records. A junior from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Butler is now leading the team with a .388 average while slugging .891 and starting all 49 games in 2026.
Paige Bambarger joined Butler as the only Beavers to hit a home run, leading off the team's incredible second inning with a solo shot to left as Nikki Donahue promptly doubled and scored in the next at-bat when Mya Harrison smacked a double of her own to right center. For Bambarger, the home run was her second on the year as she finished 2-3 with a walk, while Donahue led the Beavers with a 3-4 line that included an RBI.
The second inning continued when Camrynn Gordon singled and Harrison scored on a wild pitch. In the next at-bat, Butler walked and then Lici Campbell doubled to deep right field with the bases loaded to score a pair of runs. Campbell, who hit 2-3 in last night's game, finished 1-4 with a run scored while Harrison was 2-3 with two runs scored.
After a Redhawk pitching change, Morgan Howey kept the scoring going with a sacrifice bunt that pushed Butler across the plate; Bambarger then walked in her second at-bat of the inning and Donahue singled to left to make the Beavers' advantage seven runs.
Seattle promptly responded with a five run third inning but Butler's third inning home run – her second of the game – swung momentum back in favor of the Beavers.
A scoreless fourth ensued but both teams plated runs in the fifth and before Rylei Trujillo sealed the deal with a pinch hit single in the sixth that solidified the Beavers' 18th win of the season.
Three pitchers threw for Oregon State, started by Kimberlee Aleman, who was relieved in the third by Amelia Streuber. Streueber struck out three in two innings of work with Haydn Milley proceeding to throw 2.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing just one hit to earn the win.
Oregon State returns to action Sunday at noon. Tickets to the series finale are available and can be purchased by calling the Beaver Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-BEAVS or visiting https://beav.es/SoftballTickets
