Last Game
Ethan Kleinschmit, Wyatt Queen and Albert Roblez combined to strike out 16 but a Washington State double in the eighth proved to be the difference in a 3-2 loss to the Cougars on Friday afternoon. Jacob Galloway drove in the Beavers' first run in the second, then saw Easton Talt hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Five of the Beavers' six hits went for two bases, equaling a season-high.
Oregon State Notables
• The Beavers and Bulldogs are meeting for the third time. The first two came at the 2017 NCAA Corvallis Regional where Oregon State won both by a combined 19-1 tally.
• Six Beavers who saw action against Yale over the two games are currently active at the MLB level. That includes Nick Madrigal, who had four hits in game two. Trevor Larnach, Adley Rutschman and Steven Kwan were also in the lineup for the two games.
• Drew Rasmussen and Brandon Eisert combined to strike out eight in 7 2/3 innings in the second game.
• The Beavers lost their NCAA Regional opener for the second straight season. OSU lost to Saint Mary's to open 2025 but went on to defeat TCU, Saint Mary's and USC (twice) to advance to last seasons Corvallis Super Regional.
• The five doubles Friday equaled Oregon State's single-game team postseason record set most recently last year against Florida State.
• The Beavers were unable to draw a walk Friday for just the third time this season. OSU has, however, been hit by at least one pitch in all three of those games.
• Speaking of HBP, Oregon State extended its program record with its 88th of the year on Friday. Jacob Galloway has a team-high 13 followed by Paul Vazquez and Adam Haight with 12 apiece.
• Galloway pushed his team lead in doubles to 17 while AJ Singer posted his 16th. Singer now has 26 in 120 games as a Beaver.
• Singer, who has a team-high 54 runs batted in this season, also has 93 RBI as a Beaver.
• Oregon State's pitching staff struck out 16 against the Cougars. That's the 11th time this season OSU has tallied at least 16, and only twice have they come in extra innings.
• Those 16 strikeouts also pushed the Beavers to 662 on the year. That's 15 shy of surpassing the program's single-year record of 676 set last season.
• Oregon State has scored 102 of its 371 runs in the second and third innings combined, accounting for 27.5 percent of the season tally.
• Jacob Krieg made his first start since March 21 when he got the nod at first base in the eighth spot Friday.
• OSU is now 51-30 (.630) all-time in NCAA Regional games. The Beavers are 15-7 under Mitch Canham (.682).
• OSU is 30-5 when scoring first.
