CARLSBAD, Calif. – The Oregon State women's golf team saw its sensational 2025-26 season come to an end at the NCAA Division I National Championships on Sunday.
The Beavers battled for three rounds and finished in 30th place with a 37-over 300-300-301—901 at the par-72, 6,271-yard Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
The top 15 teams after Sunday advanced for an additional round of stroke play on Monday to determine the eight teams that will advance to match play. The 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Golf national champion will be decided on Wednesday, May 27.
This was the third time in the last four years the Beavers advanced to the NCAA National Championships, an incredible accomplishment considering they made it once in their first 47 years as a program.
In Dawn Shockley's 10 years as head coach at Oregon State, she has led the program to nine trips to postseason competitions, seven team titles, and numerous team and individual records during that time.
Kyra Ly is the lone senior on the roster and leaves as one of the best golfers in Oregon State history. She finished in a team-best tie for 96th place at nationals with a 7-over 71-76-76—223 that included eight birdies over the three days.
During Ly's four years at Oregon State, she became just the second All-American in program history, joining Kathleen Takaishi (1998), was voted the West Coast Conference (WCC) Player of the Year, competed at the Augusta National Women's Amateur, and earned her spot in several areas of the program's record book.
Raya Nakao, a junior from Kaneohe, Hawai'i, had another great showing on the NCAA national stage, finishing in a tie for 105th place with an 8-over 75-75-74—224. As a true freshman at the 2024 NCAA National Championships, she led the Beavers with a tie for 41st place that included a 1-under 71.
Nakao has recorded 13 career Top 10 finishes, including medalist honors at the 2025 WCC Championships, and has 36 rounds in red figures.
True freshman Kate Nakaoka, a native of Mililani, Hawai'i, made an impact in her first year at Oregon State with four Top 10 finishes and 11 sub-par scores while competing in every tournament. She improved her score each round at the NCAA National Championships and finished in a tie for 134th with a 13-over 78-76-75—229.
Nakaoka's best score this season with a 4-under 68 at the PING/ASU Invitational and her best finish was a tie for fourth place at the Molly Collegiate Invitational in Corvallis.
Rebecca Kim, a junior from South Surrey, B.C., was 7 over in the final round before dropping in back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes to finish with a 4-over 76. The two birdies equaled her combined total on the first two days when she shot a 9-over 81 and 2-over 74, respectively, putting her in a tie for 140th place overall with a 15-over 231.
Kim's best score this season was a 1-under 70 in the first round of the NCAA Stanford Regionals and her best finish was a tie for 13th place at the WCC Championship.
Kelly Hope, junior from Pretoria, South Africa, competed in 10 tournaments this season after participating in in a total of six her first two seasons. She played very well the first two days of the NCAA National Championships before a tough final round, posting a 17-over 76-75-82—233 to finish in 148th place.
Hope's best score this season was a 2-under 69 at the NCAA Stanford Regional and her best was a tie for 20th at the Betsy Rawls Invitational.
