Singer, Proctor Homer, Beavers Lose To Air Force
May 15, 2026 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. — AJ Singer and Josh Proctor each hit home runs to stake No. 7 Oregon State to an early lead, but Air Force answered with a four-run third inning and held on for a 9-6 victory Friday night at Goss Stadium.
Singer opened the scoring in the first inning when he doubled down the right field line and came around to score on Paul Vazquez's two-out single through the left side. Proctor followed with a solo shot to left center in the second, a 399-foot blast that gave the Beavers a 2-0 lead. It was the freshman's sixth home run of the season.
The Falcons went up with a four-run third but saw the Beavers tie the game with a pair in the third.
Singer wasn't done. Leading off the bottom of the third, the senior second baseman launched a home run to left center — his eighth of the year — to push the Beavers to within one. A few batters later, Adam Haight grounded out to tie the game at four.
Oregon State (42-12), down 6-4, added a run in the fourth when Tyler Inge singled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on another wild pitch. Bryson Glassco delivered a pinch-hit RBI single through the right side in the seventh to bring the Beavers within 8-6, but that was as close as OSU would get.
Air Force (25-25) broke through with four runs in the top of the third, highlighted by Walker Zapp's bases-clearing double down the left field line. The Falcons tacked on two more in the fourth, added a solo home run from Tripp Garrish in the fifth and scored single runs in the seventh and ninth.
Oregon State starter Eric Segura (5-2) took the loss, allowing six runs — four earned — on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings. Zach Edwards pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief, striking out four.
Rutledge earned the win for the Falcons with 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit and striking out five. Patrick Davidson earned the save with a perfect ninth, striking out all three batters he faced.
The teams finish the series Saturday with a 1:35 p.m. PT first pitch at Goss Stadium.
