Zach Kmatz Named Cape Cod League Pitcher Of The Week

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State's Zach Kmatz has been named the Cape Cod League Pitcher of the Week, with the announcement coming on Sunday.

Kmatz picked up two wins in two appearances for the Brewster Whitecaps. He did not allow an earned run over seven innings, striking out eight while limiting opponents to a .125 batting average with two walks.

Kmatz, who hails from Albuquerque, N.M., has been one of the top pitchers in the prestigious Cape Cod League this summer. He has appeared in 12 games, all in relief, and has a 3-0 record and 1.29 earned run average. Opponents are hitting just .185 against him and the righty has allowed 20 hits and four earned runs with nine walks in 28 innings. He has 29 strikeouts.

Kmatz has helped Brewster to a 24-8-3 record.
