Evans comes to Oregon State after spending the last two seasons at Grand Canyon. He appeared in 25 games in 2025-26, after missing the prior campaign due to injury. The 7-foot-2 center scored a season-high 12 points vs. Fresno State, going 5-for-8 from the floor. Evans blocked a total of 30 shots on the year, including six against Utah State on Jan. 17. Overall he shot 66.7 percent from the floor.
"Dennis is one of the premier rim protectors in the country, and his presence on the defensive end immediately elevates our program," Joyner said. "What excites us even more is how much room he has to grow—he's just scratching the surface of what he can become. Dennis is an extremely intelligent young man. We believe Oregon State is the perfect place for him to expand his game and take the next step as a complete player. Dennis has tremendous upside, and we truly feel like he's ready to take off here."
Evans started his collegiate career as a freshman at Louisville. He appeared in just seven games, making five starts for the Cardinals before missing the remainder of the campaign due to injury. He opened his collegiate career with seven points and two blocks in the Louisville season-opener. Evans played high school ball at Hillcrest in Riverside, Calif. He set the school record in career blocks with 563 and set the California state record with 16 blocks in a game.
