Strong Seventh Inning Not Enough in Loss at Idaho State
March 20, 2026 | Softball
POCATELLO, Idaho – A three-run seventh inning wasn't enough as Oregon State softball fell, 7-3, to Idaho State on Friday at Miller Ranch Stadium.
After a scoreless first six innings, OSU in the top of the seventh loaded the bases with one out after a Genevieve Beacom single and Madison Weir base on balls were followed by yet another single, this time off the bat of Paige Bambarger. Mya Harrison then walked to drive in a run, which was followed by Jaeya Butler singling in another and a Lici Campbell sacrifice fly to make it three.
Harrison finished the game 1-3 with that walk while Campbell was also 1-3. Butler was 1-4 and Tessa Hogue hit 1-2 with a run scored. Bambarger, who entered as a pinch hitter, was 1-1, while Alliyah Rodriguez returned to the lineup and finished 1-1 with a walk. Rylei Trujillo, who drew four walks across two games Thursday, earned yet another base on balls.
Haydn Milley built upon her strong relief showing yesterday with 3.1 innings of shutout work, entering in the third and allowing just four hits, no runs and striking out two of the 16 batters she faced.
The Beavers generated multiple moments of momentum throughout the game, starting in the second inning after Trujillo's walk and a Hogue infield single that put a runner in scoring position. Runners were once again in scoring position in the third after a Rodriguez single and Harrison bunt, with Rodriguez moving to third on a fielder's choice in the next at-bat, but a double play ended the inning.
Idaho State scored three in the first, two in the third and two in the fifth to take the win.
Oregon State returns home next weekend to open West Coast Conference action, hosting San Diego. Tickets are available and can be purchased by calling the Beaver Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-BEAVS or visiting https://beav.es/SoftballTickets
