Shuler Nears Career-High But Beavers Fall in Portland
February 07, 2026 | Women's Basketball
PORTLAND – Oregon State dropped a Saturday afternoon battle with Portland 53-50 in the Chiles Center.
Â
Kennedie Shuler was excellent once again for the Beavers, scoring 23 points - one off her career-high - on 10-of-16 shooting. The WCC Defensive Player of the Year contender also blocked two shots and added a steal. She scored 13 points in the second half to give Oregon State an opportunity to win.
Â
The Beavers led 22-16 at halftime of the defensive battle, holding the Pilots to 18.8 percent shooting in the opening 20 minutes – as well as 0-for-9 from three. The entirety of the lead came in an 11-5 second quarter where OSU allowed the Pilots just two made baskets.
Â
Katie Field provided ideal bench minutes in the first half for OSU, scoring six points on two three-pointers while battling for seven rebounds. She added a layup in the second half to finish with eight points, her most against a Division I opponent
Â
Portland used the triple to get back into the game in the third quarter. The Pilots hit all four of their attempts in the period to climb back within two.
Â
The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle with OSU holding the frame's largest lead at 45-40 after three free throws from Jenna Villa and a putback from Lizzy Williamson. UP responded with a 7-0 run, however, and neither team led by more than three the rest of the way. Florence Dallow delivered the winning shot, getting a friendly bounce off the rim on a three with 1:05 remaining to put Portland up for good.
Â
Oregon State won on the boards 40-33 and shot 41.7 percent from the floor to Portland's 33.9 percent.
Â
The Beavers return home on Thursday, taking on Santa Clara on Thursday at 6 p.m. in a game with major implications for WCC Tournament seeding.
