Tale of Two Halves in Home Loss

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State was lights-out shooting the ball in the first half but struggled offensively in the second on Thursday as the Beavers fell 83-70 to Santa Clara in Gill Coliseum.

The Beavers shot 55 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three in the first half before struggling to get good shots down in the final 20 minutes, shooting 20 percent from the floor and nine percent from beyond the arc.

The Broncos were the inverse, making just 5-of-24 first half three-pointers before hitting 9-of-16 in a scorching second half.

Four Beavs scored in double figures, led by Jenna Villa with 15 points. The junior also grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.

Kennedie Shuler scored 13 and just missed a double-double with nine assists. She also had a team-high four steals. In the post, Lara Alonso-Basurto contributed 11 points to go with six rebounds. Lizzy Williamson scored 11 points.

The Beavers travel to Stockton on Saturday for a game at Pacific. Tip is slated for 2 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
