CORVALLIS, Ore. – Four Oregon State pitchers were named preseason All-Americans by the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) on Friday.
Dax Whitney was named to the first team, Isaac Yeager to the second team, Ethan Kleinschmit to the third team and Eric Segura to the fourth team.
Whitney has now been named to four preseason All-America teams – including three first teams – as he gets ready for his second season with the Beavers.
Whitney struck out 120 last season, which is the most nationally by a returning pitcher this season. He went 6-3 with a 3.40 earned run average last season, doing so in 76 2/3 innings.
The Blackfoot, Idaho native was named a Third-Team All-American by D1Baseball.com after the season.
Yeager, meanwhile, picks up his first preseason honor of the year. The righty transferred from Washington where he went 4-1 with a 3.78 earned run average and seven saves over 24 appearances last season. He was named an All-Big Ten Conference performer after his junior season.
The honor is the fourth of the preseason for Kleinschmit. He went 8-5 with a 3.56 ERA a year ago, striking out 113 in 91 innings of work. He was chosen as a Third-Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
Segura went 8-2 with a 4.63 ERA last season, striking out 78 in 58 1/3 innings. The righty held opponents to a .235 batting average. He is 14-3 in two seasons with the Beavers, recording 150 strikeouts in 127 2/3 innings.
The Beavers' 2026 opener is slated for Feb. 13 against Michigan in Surprise, Ariz. Tickets for Oregon State's four games in Arizona can be found at surprisestadium.com/events/college-baseball.
