Whitney Named A Finalist For BA Pitcher Of The Year

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Oregon State sophomore Dax Whitney is one of five finalists for the National Pitcher of the Year, Baseball America announced on Wednesday.
Whitney finished the 2026 season with a 6-1 record and 2.00 earned run average in 63 innings. He struck out 104 while limiting opponents to a .185 batting average. Teams managed 42 hits and 18 walks against the right-hander, for a 0.95 WHIP.
Whitney's 17 strikeouts against Baylor in February tied the Oregon State single-game record. The 17 also stand as the second-most by a pitcher at the NCAA Division I level this season.
He has pitched in 28 games over two seasons for the Beavers, posting a 12-4 record, 2.77 ERA and has accumulated 224 strikeouts in 139 2/3 innings.
