SURPRISE, Ariz. – Bryce Hubbard and Jacob Galloway posted two hits apiece but No. 12 Oregon State was unable to hold a late lead in a 5-3 loss to Michigan Sunday in the 2026 season opener at Surprise Stadium.

Galloway doubled once in his Oregon State debut while Hubbard singled twice, including a fifth-inning ball up the middle that drove in AJ Singer from second.

That was, however, Oregon State's last run of the game. Evan Haeger drove in a pair on a single in the sixth to even the score at three, then followed that with a two-run bloop single in right to send the Wolverines to the win.

Easton Talt drove in a run on the Beavers' second at bat of the season, doubling to right center. He scored when Jacob Krieg reached on an infield single.

Brenden Stressler homered in the second off OSU starter Dax Whitney to put Michigan on the board for the first time.

Whitney made the start, striking out six in five innings. He scattered five hits and a run with three walks.

Isaac Yeager took the loss after allowing one hit and a run in 1 1/3 innings. The win was picked up by Michigan reliever Shane Brinham, who held OSU scoreless over 1 2/3 innings. Gavin DeVooght got the save with a scoreless ninth.
