Late Comeback Lifts Beavers to Road Sweep

SAN DIEGO, Calif.  – The Oregon State men's basketball team came back from 10-points down with less than two minutes remaining to force overtime, on its way to a 78-76 victory over San Diego Saturday evening in San Diego, Calif. The Beavers ended regulation on an 11-1 run, spanning the final 1:45 of the contest.

The victory completed a road sweep for the Beavers, who also defeated LMU on Wednesday.

Johan Munch nearly recorded a double-double, finishing with 15 points and nine rebounds. Josiah Lake II tallied 12 points and eight assists, knocking down a 3-pointer late in regulation to force the extra period. Dez White also recorded 12 points, while Matija Samar recorded 11 points off the bench.

Isaiah Sy scored nine points, while Noah Amenhauser has seven.

As a team, Oregon State shot 40.3 percent on the afternoon, including 50 percent in the overtime period.

Oregon State scored the first five points of the game, before the Toreros battled back to level the score at 12. San Diego led 21-17 at the under-eight media break of the first half.

The two sides continued to trade blows, with Samar leveling the score at 25 with a pair of free throws with five minutes left in the opening frame. Oregon State headed to the locker room in front 30-25.

The Toreros evened things up at 31 early in the second half. San Diego took a 45-37 lead into the under 12 media break, but the Beavers answered with a 9-0 run to regain the advantage. San Diego battled back with a 10-0 run of its own to go ahead by nine.
