Beavs Open 2025 with LBSU Tournament

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Chapter three of the Lindsey Behonick era for Oregon State volleyball opens this weekend in Long Beach with two matches on the docket.
The Beavers will face sixth-ranked Stanford on Saturday night (Aug. 30, 7 p.m.) before taking on the hosts, Long Beach, on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.
Oregon State will be led by a pair of all-conference selections in Annika Hester and Lauren Rumel in addition to other key returners.
Numbers to Know
1 – Rumel was the only WCC student-athlete named to the gold medal-winning Team USA at the U23 NORCECA Pan American Games earlier in August.
3 – The Beavers are one of three WCC schools to have three student-athletes from Hawai'i.
3 – In season three of the Behonick era, the Beavers will open a campaign in the third different state (Montana, Arizona and California).
8 – Oregon State will play in eight different California locales in 2025.
10 – Stanford and Long Beach will be among the 10 opponents from California for OSU this year.
40 – The Beavers will open the season in California for the first time in 40 years, last opening in the Golden State back on Sept. 5, 1985 in Stockton.
BEAVS AND CARD
• OSU will not have to wait long to play a former Pac-12 opponent, opening '25 with Stanford.
• The Beavers and Cardinal will meet for the 76th time but first as nonconference foes.
• OSU battled then-#4 Stanford to four sets on The Farm in the last meeting, back in Nov. '23.
• Stanford will be the first ranked opponent to open a season under Behonick.

• Hester and Rumel were honored by the WCC as members of the all-conference preseason team.
• The duo ended '24 on the league's First Team while Rumel earned a spot on the All-Academic Team.
HEADING BACK TO THE PAC
• Oregon State closes its two-year stint as an affiliate member of the WCC in 2025.
• Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State will join OSU and Washington State in a rebuilt Pac-12 on July 1, 2026.
BEAVS ARE BACK
• Offensive leaders returning include: kills and points (Hester), service aces (Vivian Light) and assists (Emma Lilo).
• Narlioglu led the defense with 349 digs (3.39/set) while Hester is the returner with the most blocks (94.0).
ABSOLUTELY SERVING
• The Beavers are returning three who served at least 24 aces in 2024.
• Light: 37

• Narlioglu: 24
• Light's .36 aces/set mark placed her sixth in the conference.
• In the four-set road win over Portland last September, Light's five aces were among the league's best single-match performances.

• Before the season started, Rumel was named to the United States' U23 roster for the NORCECA Pan-American Championships and helped lead the team to a gold medal-winning finish.
