Beaver Volleyball Signs Two on National Signing Day
November 12, 2025 | Women's Volleyball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State volleyball is excited to welcome a pair of student athletes from the 2026 signing class, which was announced on Wednesday.
"We are thrilled to welcome these two incredible student-athletes to the Oregon State volleyball family. This signing class brings a combination of grit, skill and passion that fits perfectly with the culture we're building here in Corvallis," Head Coach Lindsey Behonick said. "Each of these women showed us not just their athletic ability, but their character and competitive fire throughout the recruiting process, and we're so excited to get them on campus."
Isabel Sofia Bertelsen / Orlando, Fla. / Winter Park Volleyball Club
Isabel Sofia Bertelsen is a 7A state champion libero/defensive specialist from Florida who helped lead her team to a state title while earning AVCA Best and Brightest first-team honors, which recognized her excellence both on the court and in the classroom. A high honor roll student planning to major in supply chain and logistics management, Bertelsen trained under coaches Matt Jackson and Wylie Devlin at Winter Park Volleyball Club.
Bertelsen, who just won her second-consecutive state championship last weekend, is ranked 32nd in the state of Florida and sixth at her position, according to Prep Dig rankings.
From an athletic family, Bertelsen's great uncle, Jim, played football at Texas and professionally with the LA Rams, while her mother Jacque played basketball at Transylvania University. Outside of volleyball, she enjoys cooking and traveling.
"I wanted to play volleyball at a big Division I school with a great environment and great coaches," Bertelsen said. "Oregon State checked all the boxes."
"Isabel lifts whatever team she is on with her steady presence in the back row. Something that stood out to us initially in the recruiting process was the fact that she possessed a variety of skills that make her an all-around great volleyball player," Coach Behonick said. "For example, her ability to set from all areas of the court and keep a team in system with her second contact is quite a niche skill for a libero, and one that she does with ease. Every team we watched her compete with performs at a high level.
"In the club and high school circuit she has battled against and beaten some of the best – showing us she knows how to win," Behonick added. "I can't wait to get her in our gym in January as her personality and work ethic fits right in with our group, and her skillset is one that will contribute to furthering the goals we have with this team at Oregon State."
Abby Lesagonicz / San Diego, Calif. / COAST
Abby Lesagonicz is a 6-3 outside hitter from California who exceled as a multi-sport athlete, earning first-team all-league honors in volleyball all four years of high school while winning a state championship and breaking her high school's block record three times on the basketball court.
Lesagonicz has also garnered national recognition as a UNEXT All-American and JVA watchlist member, and is ranked 161st nationally, 23rd in the state of California, and third in her position group in California according to Prep Dig rankings.
An honor roll student all four years of high school, she trained under coach Rafael Asvolinsque at COAST and comes from an athletic family—her mother Lauren Hill played basketball at John Carroll University.
"The amazing coaches and athletics, along with a beautiful campus," were why Lesagonicz said she decided to become a Beaver.
"Abby is a well-known player in the Southern California volleyball circuit and one that we are excited to have join the Beaver family. She has played in one of the best high school volleyball leagues in the state and been a part of two of the best clubs in the nation in her prep career," Coach Behonick said. "She knows how to contribute to and uphold the culture of a winning team. Her dominant net presence is one that we are excited to utilize in our gym, as she has developed an incredible toolbox offensively and has always been a steady blocking presence.
"In the recruitment process it has been really cool to see Abby steadily grow in her passing and defense, and we know she is just scratching the surface of how good her six-rotation game is going to be," Behonick added. "She is well respected by her peers and coaches alike and her inclusive personality is one that we are excited to have impact our program both on and off the court."
