Beavers Fall at Home
January 18, 2025 | Women's Basketball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State women's basketball dropped Saturday's game against Portland 86-61.
The Beavers found ways to get good looks and beat Portland's press throughout the contest but couldn't get the looks to fall on a 34.5 percent shooting day as a team.
Kennedie Shuler was a bright spot for the Beavers throughout the day, fighting her way to 13 points, seven rebounds and a steal. The sophomore made 5-of-9 shots from the floor.
Kelsey Rees struggled from the floor but found ways to draw fouls and converted at the free throw line to contribute 14 points. AJ Marotte added 11 points on a 4-for-9 day from the floor and 3-for-6 day from three.
The two teams battled in the first quarter with Portland leading 23-16 after the opening frame. The Pilots extended the lead to 47-31 at halftime, shooting 58 percent from the floor to outpace the Beavers in the opening 20 minutes. From there, the Pilots held the advantage to secure the victory.
The Beavs hit the road next week, taking on San Francisco and Pacific on Thursday and Saturday.
