Split Weekend Ahead for WBB; Senior Day Saturday in Gill
February 24, 2026 | Women's Basketball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – March is right around the corner and Oregon State has a split weekend ahead with major conference tournament seeding implications as it visits San Diego and celebrates Senior Day at home against LMU.
The Beavers are alone in third in the WCC, one game ahead of Santa Clara and one game behind LMU and Gonzaga. A 2-0 week could yield any place between first and third depending on other games in the league.
Home court advantage will be crucial. Fans can help the Beavs pick up a massive win by getting tickets for half-off for Saturday's game using code FAMILY on BeaverTickets.com.
OSU will celebrate its senior class of Susana Yepes, Tiara Bolden, Lizzy Williamson and Néné Sow before the game. The Senior Day national anthem tradition with Voice of the Beavs Ron Callan will continue with the Colombian, Australian, Belgian and American national anthems sung around 12:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early. The remainder of senior day festivities are slated to begin at 12:45 p.m.

STARTING FIVE
THE DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION PROJECT
After struggling to shoot from downtown in 2024-25, Scott Rueck & Co. had a clear mission in the offseason: add shooting both in the portal and summer workouts. The Beavers are making 5.3% more triples (28.3% to 33.6% in 2025-26) thanks to the addition of Jenna Villa (36.9%) and emergence of Ally Schimel (44%) as well as contributions in smaller samples from Katelyn Field (35.3%) and Cloe Vecina (35.7%). The growth year-over-year is the second-largest in Rueck's tenure behind 2012-13 (29.2%) to 2013-14 (36.9%).
NO CHARITY
As in year's past, Oregon State's clean defense meant opposing teams rarely make it to the charity stripe. The Beavers allow the fewest opponent free throw attempts per game in the WCC and 4th-fewest in the nation this season at 10.5. OSU's opponents are shooting four fewer free throws per game than their next-closest conference foe (SMC, 14.4). For context, the gap between OSU and #2 is larger than the gap between #2 and last (3.1 FTA/game between Saint Mary's and Portland).

STARTING FIVE
- March is right around the corner and everything is on the table for Oregon State in the final weekend of the regular season as it battles San Diego and LMU
- The Beavers are currently third in the WCC and is one game behind the Lions and Gonzaga with an outside shot at a regular season title or a 2-seed if it wins out
- The first step to either of those is a win at San Diego, which OSU defeated 61-43 at home but the Toreros were missing leading scorer Kylie Ray for much of the game
- Oregon State is coming off a massive home sweep of Portland and Washington State in which Tiara Bolden earned WCC Player of the Week honors. The award was the second won by Bolden and the fifth by a Beaver (Shuler twice, Villa once) this season.
- The Beavs outrebounded the Pilots and Cougars by 19 (9 and 10 respectively), marking a positive sign that OSU is returning to its normal ways on the glass
