Beaver Bars Fuel Road Win at Arizona

Oregon State gymnastics took care of business in Tucson, posting the team’s second-straight 197.
TUCSON, Ariz. – Beaver gymnastics was in action Sunday afternoon, downing the Arizona Wildcats 197.075 – 196.850 to improve the team's overall record to 8-4 this season. Jade Carey won four more event titles as OSU prepares to host Arizona State on Friday at Gill Coliseum.
In the team's first rotation, uneven bars, OSU came out of the gates rolling with the meet's highest rotation score by any team, posting a 49.525. After a Sophia Esposito 9.775, Natalie Briones and Taylor DeVries posted back-to-back 9.85s, and the momentum continued with three-straight 9.9 or higher scores: Jennifer McMillan (9.925), Sage Thompson (9.925) and Jade Carey (9.975).
Briones opened up the vault by setting a new career-high, earning a 9.875 in the leadoff spot. After a Kaitlin Garcia 9.275, Thompson and Karlie Chavez were given 9.775s; Esposito posted an event title-winning 9.900 before Carey was given a 9.875. After two rotations, OSU held a 98.725-98.125 advantage.
On the floor, Briones started things off with a 9.825 before Garcia was given a 9.85 and Thompson an 8.85. Esposito added her fifth 9.85 or better this season with another 9.85 before Ariana Young posted a 9.675; Carey was given a 9.925 in the anchor spot to seal a 49.125 rotation score, putting OSU up by three-tenths of a point going into the final rotation.
Rounding out the meet on the beam, Esposito started the lineup off with another 9.85. Thompson, Olivia Buckner and McMillan all posted 9.8s before Young was given a 9.075. With the pressure on and Arizona posting its second-highest rotation score of the meet, Carey stepped up with a 9.975 to seal the meet and yet another event title.
When the judges' final scores were in, it was Oregon State 197.075, Arizona 196.850.
Carey's 39.750 all-around score set a new season high as she finished the meet with four more event titles, bringing her career total to 105 and within 11 of the program's all-time record. The 197.075 was OSU's third on the season and second in as many weeks while also marking the third-straight week with both Esposito and Carey competing in the all-around, as Thompson competed in just her second ever all-around.
