
Rumel Named to WCC's All-Academic Team

CORVALLIS, Ore. – A standout on the court for the Oregon State volleyball team, Lauren Rumel is also lauded for her work in the classroom, as she was named to the West Coast Conference's All-Academic team on Friday.
For consideration to be named to the WCC's All-Academic Team, student-athletes must hold a minimum 3.20 grade point average, be a starter or important reserve with "legitimate athletic credentials," have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing with at least one year in residence completed at the institution and participate in at least 50% of the institution's completed contests.
The junior from Tucson, Arizona, is working toward a bachelor of arts in speech communication.
Rumel – who appeared in every set of 2024 - placed in the top five of multiple offensive categories: kills (second - 333), assists (fifth - 16), aces (fifth - 17) and a pair of defensive stats: third in digs (189) and fourth in blocks with 48.0. Over the course of the season, she accumulated 333 kills with a new career-best of 21 in the season opener and nearly matching it with 20 in October. Rumel complemented the 21 kills in the opener with 12 digs for her first four double-doubles of 2024.
