
Beavers Squash Hornets to Move to 8-2

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's basketball team improved to 8-2 on the season Tuesday evening, as the Beavers defeated Sacramento State 82-45 at Gill Coliseum.

This marks the fourth time in head coach Wayne Tinkle's tenure that the Beavers have had at least eight wins through the first 10 games of the season.

Michael Rataj posted his fifth double-double of the year, finishing with 23 points and 11 rebounds, going 8-for-12 from the floor. Liutauras Lelevicius finished his night with 12 points and five rebounds.

Nate Kingz finished in double-figures with 10 points, while Josiah Lake II had nine off the bench. Parsa Fallah posted another efficient night, going 4-for-5 from the floor with eight points. Damarco Minor had six assists in the contest and Ja'Quavis Williford had seven points.

As a team, Oregon State shot 53.7 percent from the floor while holding Sacramento State to 32.1 percent shooting. Eleven different Beavers scored in the contest.

The teams traded punches early, as Oregon State took an 8-7 edge into the game's first media timeout. The Beavers used an 11-0 run to bring the advantage to 19-7, as OSU held the Hornets scoreless for a stretch of nearly seven minutes.

The Beavers carried a 30-20 lead into the intermission.

Sacramento State battled back to get back within five at 41-36 with 13:50 remaining in the game. Oregon State responded with a 17-1 run to retake control of the contest at 58-37. OSU didn't look back from there, taking the win by 37.

The Beavers will head to Hawaii next week to compete in the Diamond Head Classic. Oregon State will open the tournament Sunday against Charleston.
