
Behonick Adds Three Ahead of '24 Season

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Following the conclusion of the 2023 season, the Oregon State volleyball team will welcome three, as announced by head coach Lindsey Behonick.
Annika Hester
Opposite | 6-4 | San Diego | Falmouth, Maine (Falmouth HS)
Making her way north to Corvallis from San Diego, Annika Hester will join the Beavers after three years with the Toreros, even being a part of the 2022 Final Four squad. A right-side attacker, she's seen action in 53 sets across two seasons – one with a redshirt – who had 58 kills and 30 blocks. Last season, she totaled 40 kills on 119 attempts across 25 sets. She saw career highs in kills (11), points (13) and blocks (7) in 2023 with an 11-point outburst against Tennessee and a seven-block performance in a four-set win over UC Davis.
Hester was a three-time Gatorade Player of the Year in Maine (2018, 19, 20-21) and an Under Armour All-American First Team Selection. Her high school – Falmouth – made three appearances in the Southern Maine Activities Association (SMAA) state championship with two crowns (2018 and 2019). She was named the SMAA MVP in (2018 and 2019) and a three-time SMAA All-Conference team selection (2017-19). She holds her school record for kills in a match with 36.
In 2018, she was a part of a NERVA Regional Tournament with Maine Juniors VBC. Internationally, she trained with USA Volleyball High Performance on three occasions (A1, 2019 and 2020; Beach, 2019; A2, 2018). She also placed third at the Swedish National Beach Volleyball Championship at Tylosand, Sweden in 2017.

An elite opposite who can attack and block with range, she comes to OSU with the knowledge of how to train and compete at a high level. Yasemin Narlioglu
Libero | 5-10 | Kadikoy, Turkey (Anatolian HS)
Yasemin Narlioglu – a libero – will join the Beavers with years of experience with the Turkish national team behind her. She has played for her country in the numerous CEV European Championships as well as the European Youth Olympic Festival. She was part of a gold medal-winning teams at the U16 European Championships in 2019, the 2020 U17 European Championships, the U19 Balkan Championships and the 2022 European Youth Olympic Festival.
Some of her accolades include the Best Libero at the 2018 BVA U16, the Best Libero at the 2022 U19 Balkan Championships as well as the tournament's Best Receiver.

"Yasemin is a high-level receiver and defender with a passion for the game. We are excited she has chosen Corvallis to be her home-away-from-home for the next four years as she enters Oregon State with a great amount of high-level playing experience. Her ability to read the game, her attention to detail and her desire to be elite are all reasons she will elevate our gym. She is a fun-loving individual who has all of the capabilities to be a great leader in her time here. We can't wait until she touches down from Turkey to get to work!"
Elly Schraeder
Middle Blocker | 6-2 | San Diego State | Athol, Idaho (Coeur d'Alene HS)
Also making her way north from San Diego, Elly Schraeder will join the Beavers after four seasons split evenly between San Diego State and San Diego.
With the Aztecs, Schraeder tallied 132.0 blocks – including 80 in her first season at SDSU – along with 191 total kills. In just her second match as an Aztec, she swatted away a career-best nine in a four-set victory over Army West Point, where she also contributed eight kills to the effort. Last season, she had a pair of six-block performances in four-set wins over Cal State Fullerton and Wyoming, respectively.
She helped lead San Diego to a pair of NCAA tournaments, including a trip to the second round in the fall of 2021. During her time with the Toreros, Schraeder made 23 starts across 38 matches played, leading the squad in blocks with 1.30, which was second in the West Coast Conference.
In her prep days, she starred for Coeur d'Alene High School, where she helped lead her team to a 2019 Inland Empire League crown and a pair of fourth-place finishes in the state championships. No stranger to individual accolades, she was twice-named the 5A Northwest Inland Empire League MVP, the 2020 North Idaho Hall of Fame Athlete of the Year and the 2020 CDA High School Bicentennial Athlete of the Year. In the classroom, she was a two-time academic letterwinner and honor roll student.

She brings a lot of energy, drive and has a desire to compete a high level – qualities that will elevate our gym and add immensely to the cultural makeup of our team. She was a sought-out athlete out of high school and someone we have admired as a player and person for a while. We are thrilled she will finish out her collegiate career as a Beaver!"
