Beavs to Close Nonconference Play with Portland State

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Back in the Beaver State, the Oregon State volleyball team will face off with in-state foe - Portland State - in a home-and-home series with matchups on Thursday afternoon and Saturday night. The Beavers will host the Thursday affair while the Vikings will return the favor on the weekend.

The matchups this week will mark the first time the Beavers will play an Oregon-based opponent in the Behonick era.

BACK IN THE BEAVER STATE
After three in California, Oregon State will return back to Oregon for a home-and-home with Portland State. On Thursday, the Vikings will visit Gill Coliseum before the Beavs return with a trip north to PDX on Saturday.

THE OPPOSITION
Oregon State and Portland State will meet for the 61st and 62nd times this week. In last year's meeting in the Rose City Showdown, the Vikings took a four-set match.

CAREER BESTS IN CALIFORNIA
A pair of Beavs tallied career highs in last weekend's Riverside Classic: Mychael Vernon (26 kills vs. Cal Baptist) and Ryan White (24 digs vs. Nevada).

RUMEL'S A BIG HITTER
Hitting seventh-best in the Pac-12 at .402, Lauren Rumel has not had a quiet start since coming to Corvallis from Arizona. In the sweep of UC Riverside, she punched in a .556 thanks to 10 kills on 18 attempts against the Highlanders.

SHE'S KILLING IT
Vernon posted 113 kills through the season in the eight matches played and double-digit kills in six matches. Those 113 kills ranks fifth in the Pac-12.

A DROVE OF DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Four Beavs - Amanda Burns, Peyton Suess, Vernon and White -Â registered at least one double-double, while Suess and Vernon had a pair.

Placing seventh in the Pac-12 for digs is White with 102. The libero from Richland, Wash., also sits inside the league's top 10 with 3.29 digs per set. She's etched digs in the double-digits on five of the eight matches played, averaging 12.75 digs per contest. For just the fourth time in her career, she had 20+ digs after the 24-dig performance against the Wolf Pack on Friday.
