Ciao Beavs Day 7: Gameday and a Bike Tour
August 25, 2023 | Women's Basketball
FLORENCE, Italy – Oregon State's 2023-24 squad played its first game together on Friday, picking up a 118-25 win to close a day that also featured a bike tour around the town of Lucca.
Â
The game recap can be read here.
Â
Before knocking off the local squad in Florence, the Beavs drove just over an hour to Lucca. Known as a stop on the silk road, the town was yet another unique glimpse into Italian history. It rarely ever fought in wars, so its walls were still intact and in excellent shape with the Beavs biking on top of them before descending into town.
The tour took the Oregon State travel party throughout the town from the walls to the major community squares. The Beavers had an hour of free time before leaving to shop, eat or just explore the town.
After returning to Florence, more free time awaited the Beavs before preparations for their game against Pallacanestro Firenze. The team ate its pregame meal together, as always, and then returned to the hotel before bussing to a new part of town for the game.
Â
The Beavers dominated the contest with 33 steals in the large victory. The team's freshmen: Dominika Paurová, Kennedie Shuler and Donovyn Hunter accounted for 19 of the steals.
Â
After the game, OSU enjoyed a pizza dinner together. The Beavers travel to Venice tomorrow, where they will take the canals to their hotel prior to a guided walking tour of the city.
Â
Oregon State's next game is on Sundy against ASD Polisportiva Casarsa. A livestream of the game is unlikely, though hosting teams may provide it if they choose to. Scores will be made available on social media and osubeavers.com after the contests. Â
