Garret Forrester and Gavin Turley each homered twice and OSU scored in seven of its eight innings at the plate in a 20-7 series-opening win over Western Carolina Thursday night at Goss Stadium. Turley drove in seven runs, the most by a Beaver this season, while Brady Kasper homered in the second to give OSU five on the night. Ben Ferrer got the win after going 5 1/3 innings in his second start of the year. He struck out eight, including six consecutive to end his outing.

• Oregon State's five home runs Thursday gave the Beavers 71 on the season, a program record. The 2023 club surpassed the 2018 team, which had held the record with 67.
• Garret Forrester and Brady Kasper both reached nine home runs on Thursday. The two are vying to become the third Beaver to reach double figures this season. Should that happen, it would be the first time since 2007 that OSU has had three players in double figures.
• No OSU team this century has had four.
• Forrester now has 25 home runs for his career, equaling him with Matt Bailie (1995-98), Brian Barden (2000-02) and Mitch Canham (2004-07) for ninth-most at Oregon State.
• Forrester also now has 138 RBI for his career, surpassing Darwin Barney (136 from 2005-07) for 10th at OSU.
• Travis Bazzana upped his stolen base total to 35 this season after swiping two Thursday. He is aiming to become the first Pac-12 player to reach 40 since Washington's Chris Magruder in 1997 when the Huskies were a member of the Pac-10's North division.
• OSU swiped four bases as a team Thursday, giving the Beavers 83 on the year. That equals the 2022 Beavers for the most under Mitch Canham.

• OSU is in reach of 90 steals for the third time in team history. The Beavers swiped a school-record 101 in 1986, and also had 98 in 1980.
• Mikey Kane and Micah McDowell both extended hit streaks to 10 games on Thursday. McDowell has 16 hits and 12 RBI during his streak. Kane has 12 hits and eight RBI during his.
• Oregon State has scored 49 runs in its last three games.
