Beavs Battle Top Teams at Ivy League Invite
April 18, 2023 | Women's Rowing
PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 18 Oregon State women's rowing team battled against some of the top teams in the country at the Ivy League Invite on Carnegie Lake over the weekend, highlighted by a victory in the 2V8+ over No. 16 Rutgers in the third session on Sunday morning.
Originally scheduled for a pair of sessions on Saturday, weather in the area washed out the second session, making for a tight turnaround for sessions two and three on Sunday morning. The Beavs were up for the challenge of a condensed schedule, posting their best time across the early session on Sunday, while picking up a big win in the 2V8+ in the final session.
The 1V8+ of AnnaRuth Neville (cox), Muryn Greene, Maeve Donnelly, Evan Park, Sierra Bishop, Kathryn Clemens, Rhianna Loughnan, Anneka Davys and Annelise Norkitis defeated Dartmouth and Cornell with a weekend-best time of 6:28.48 across the three sessions. In their final race of the weekend, the Beavs came within 2.286 seconds of knocking off the 1V8+ of No. 16 Rutgers.
Finishing in 6:28.64 in session two, the 2V8+ of Charlotte Gregory (cox), Kathryn Worley, Giulia Clerici, Kaitlyn Judd, Rebecca Logan, Megan Lautner, Tulla Angeley, Rebecca Falash and Torree Hawken picked up wins over No. 16 Rutgers, Dartmouth, Cornell and Columbia over the weekend. Facing just a two-hour turnaround between the second and third session, the 2V8+ battled for a victory in their final race, clearing the line 6.256 in front of No. 16 Rutgers and 22.080 seconds ahead of third-place Cornell.
Saturday's 1V4+ of Mason Fischer, Sasha Delman, Zoë Bishop, Alexa Ellis and Taylor Denger (cox) defeated Dartmouth and Cornell, while Sunday's 1V4+ of Annalise Bledsoe, Delman, Bishop, Ellis and Denger (cox) had a pair of second-place finishes with victories over Columbia and Cornell.
