Cliff Keen Invitational On Deck
• No. 17 Oregon State will participate once again in the always-competitive Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational this weekend, held at the Westgate Paradise Event Center.
• In the 2022 edition, OSU finished eighth as a team and saw three returners - Brandon Kaylor (125 - fourth), Matthew Olguin (165 - third) and Trey Muñoz (184 - eighth) - place inside the top-10.
• The Beavers will face off against student-athletes from many conferences including the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, EIWA and even Pac-12.
• With the exception of the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, OSU has been a regular at CKLV for the past decade-plus. In the Pendleton era, the Beavs have logged consecutive eighth-place finishes - which are the best performances as a team. Since the 2012-13 season, the best an Oregon State team placed was fourth with 98.5 points.
Iowa Lookback
• Oregon State battled Iowa back in mid-November for their last dual.
• Kaylor, Muñoz and McDermott (HWT) tallied wins for the Beavs against Hawkeye opposition.
• Nash Singleton (149) made his collegiate debut and was narrowly defeated in sudden victory to then-No. 9 Victor Voinovich.
Wrestlers of the Week
• In four weeks of the season, two Beavs - Gabe Whisenhunt (133) and Brandon Kaylor (125) - have taken the Pac-12's Wrestler of the Week honors. Both were received following ranked wins.
• Whisenhunt took down then-No. 4 Sam Latona of Virginia Tech on the way to taking the individual crown at the Southeast Open while Kaylor defeated then-No. 11 Drake Ayala of Iowa in the dual against the Hawkeyes.
• No other school in the Pac-12 has had multiple student-athletes awarded Wrestler of the Week so far in the 2023-24 season.
In the Rankings
• As a team, the Beavs check in at the polls at:
• NWCA: 15
• Intermat: 21 (dual)/17 (tournament)
• FloWrestling: 16
