LAST TIME OUT
Lizzie Hatton and Emma Nelson secured the first wins of 2023 in the 200 meters and high jump to highlight a strong day for the Beavs at the UW Preview. In addition to Nelson and Hatton's victories, Oregon State athletes posted six PRs in their return to the track. Six Beavers made the podium with top-three results.
Â
Hatton and Jada Hurley each posted PRs in the 60-meter dash finals, crossing in 7.61 and 7.64 seconds respectively to place second and third. Adael Scatena and Anneke Moersdorf matched the third and fourth place finishes with PRs of their own in the hurdles, finishing in 8.74 and 8.77 seconds.
Â
Things picked up in the field events throughout the day. Keely McLaughlin had a pair of sixth place results in the weight throw (15.51m/50-10.75) and shot put (14.52m/47-07.75). Taylor Crockem added a personal best in the shot put with a 14.46m/47-5.25 put. Nelson continued OSU's momentum in the field by winning the high jump, her first win of the year after placing second at the Spokane Indoor in December. She was just three-quarters of an inch from a PR with a 5-9.25 leap that earned the win.
Â
Hatton returned to the track at the end of the day to lock up her first collegiate victory. The freshman raced to a 25.32 in the 200 meters, narrowly outpacing Washington's Danielle Hunter and her teammate Hurley.
Â
Oregon State closed the day with a strong 4x400m relay. The 'A' group of Scatena, Paige Sefried, Weidinger and Mari Friedman placed third with the no. 9 time in OSU history (3:53.91).
