January 28, 2023 | Women's Track & Field
SEATTLE and FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.– Oregon State set new school records in the mile and the 4x400-meter relay in a strong performance at the UW and Razorback Invites.
Â
Kaylee Mitchell and Grace Fetherstonhaugh both broke a school record in the same event for the second time in two meets, snapping the top mark in the mile at the Razorback Invite. Then, Adael Scatena, Taylor Weidinger, Jada Hurley, and Mari Friedman outpaced the previous record by over a second in the 4x400 meters.
Â
The record-breakers highlighted a day where 10 Beavs posted personal bests and six claimed new spots in the OSU Top 10 for at least one event. Oregon State athletes posted 15 PBs on the weekend.
Â
The distance and middle distance provided most of the highlights for OSU in Fayetteville. In addition to the Mitchell and Fetherstonhaugh, Paige Sefried recorded a personal best in the 800 meters while Christina Geisler moved into the no. 8 spot all-time in the mile.
Â
Taylor Weidinger, fresh off earning a spot in the OSU Top 10 in the 200 meters, raced to the third spot in school history with a 26.60 in the 400. She is one of three athletes and the only active runner in the Oregon State top 10 in the 60, 200 and 400 meters.
Â
The Beavers shined primarily on the track in Seattle. Six distance runners made their season debuts in the 3,000 meters and four posted new PRs in the event: Zoe Simmons, Eimy Martinez, Liv Downing and Eliza Eckman. Simmons also placed 15th in a competitive field.
Â
In the sprints, Treasure Rinaldi entered the OSU Top 10 with a 7.97Â in the 60 meters, good for the no. 9 spot on the list.
