
Escobar Earns Third Pac-12 Freshman of the Week Award

With the help of Kiki Escobar, the Beavers took the series against the Wildcats for the first time since 2013 and snapped a 15-game losing skid against UA.
SAN FRANCISCO - For the third time this season and second consecutive week, freshman Kiki Escobar has been named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for her performances against No. 20 Arizona, as announced on Monday.
With the help of Escobar, the Beavers took the series against the Wildcats for the first time since 2013 and snapped a 15-game losing skid against UA. Oregon State sits third in the Pac-12 standings behind Arizona State and UCLA with a 31-9 overall record and a 7-5 conference record.
Escobar reached base in all three games last week, producing a team-best five hits, going 5-for-9 (.556) with a double and her first career home run in the series finale on Sunday. She collected two multi-hit contests with a pair of RBIs.
The infielder added a 1.000 slugging percentage last weekend and leads the team and the conference this season with 58 hits, which is also tied for fourth in the country. The freshman has started in the infield in every game thus far for Oregon State.
Escobar and the rest of the Beavers travel north to Seattle for a Pac-12 series at No. 11 Washington this weekend. The three-game tilt is scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 14 at 5 p.m. PT, continues on Friday, April 15 at 6 p.m. PT and concludes on Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m. PT. All games will be available on the Pac-12 Networks.
