Prochaska to Oversee Player Development
October 05, 2022 | Softball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Shelly Prochaska will now oversee Softball Player Development, as announced by head coach Laura Berg.
"We are excited to have Shelly a part of our program," said Berg. "She's an alumna of the program knows how special Oregon State is. Her experience and knowledge will help our program tremendously."
Previously a volunteer assistant and entering her fourth season with the Beavers, Prochaska helped lead the team to a Women's College World Series appearance in 2022 that also finished the season ranked No. 8. NFCA selected OSU's staff as the Pacific Region's Coaching Staff of the Year.
The Beaver alumna and product of Aloha, Ore., made quite the name for herself on the diamond for Oregon State from 2000-03. Making 254 starts in 260 appearances, Prochaska saw more action than anyone else in a Beaver uniform. She was the first to tally 200 hits, 100 RBI and 100 runs scored in program history along the way to All-Pac-10 and All-American honors in her final season. Following her playing career, she served as an undergraduate assistant coach for Oregon State.
Prior to returning to Corvallis, Prochaska helped guide CSU Bakersfield to their first-ever regional appearance in their DI era in 2016 before being an assistant coach at Sonoma State. From 2010-14, she coached the Boise State pitchers to staff records for ERA (3.12), opponent batting average (.250) and the fewest walks per seven innings (1.94) in the 2012 campaign.
