Oregon State Pulls Away for Exhibition Win

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Three Beavers scored in double-figures to help Oregon State pull away from Western Oregon in an 82-66 win on Sunday at Gill Coliseum.

Talia von Oelhoffen led the Beavs with 23 points while AJ Marotte contributed 19. Jelena Mitrovic rounded out the Beavers in double figures with 16 points.

Mitrovic scored the season's first bucket in Gill, pivoting around her defender and laying the ball in for a 2-0 lead. The Beavers continued to go to the post against the undersized Wolves and the redshirt sophomore finished the first quarter with six points.

Marotte also provided a burst of scoring in the first, making 4-of-6 from the field to lead the Beavs with eight points in the period. Oregon State finished the first ten minutes with a 24-21 lead.

Western Oregon showed some grit in the second quarter, using the three to make an 8-0 run. Von Oelhoffen got the Beavers back in front, making back-to-back triples to steady the home squad. The preseason All-Pac-12 choice finished the first half with a team-high 17 points.

The sophomore duo of Marotte and von Oelhoffen helped the Beavs finish pulling away in the third quarter. The two combined for seven of OSU's nine points in a 9-2 run that opened the period.

Marotte led the Beavs with five points in the quarter. Von Oelhoffen and Raegan Beers each contributed four while Lily Hansford grabbed four rebounds.

The Beavs entered the fourth quarter with a 60-50 advantage and added six points to the lead during the fourth. Hansford went 2-for-2 from three-point range in the period, scoring six of her eight points. Beers grabbed four rebounds to finish with 12 and closed the game one point shy of a double-double.

Oregon State opens its 2022-23 season on Monday, Nov. 7 against Hawai'i. The game is set for a 5:30 p.m. tip at Gill Coliseum.
