Oregon State finishes ninth overall
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Oregon State men's rowing team opened its 2021 fall season Sunday, finishing seventh among collegiate boats in the Men's Championship 4+ at the Head of the Charles Regatta.
The Beaver Boat comprised of: freshman Ethan deBorja, Andrew Balsbaugh, Cal Labonski, Nils Patrick and Colin Lindquist clocked in with a time of 16:31.165, good for ninth overall.
"The Head of the Charles is the "who's who" of rowing," said Oregon State head coach Gabe Winkler. "Great course, great atmosphere, perfect weather. To be in the mix of the best teams in the country is exciting to watch, especially after a two-year hiatus. The guys were pleased with their performance.
"Also, hats off to the Alumni 8+ that placed 14th in yesterday's Alumni event. Guaranteed to race next year, always repping the Beavs. The line-up was Cox: Ben Garrison '20, Max Mac Donald'20, Sasha Kosek '18, Frank Horpel '18, Baxter Call '18' Roma Pjajka '20, Jesse Maritz '18, Ian Wright '16, Alex Carlton '20, Coached by Alex Hernandez '20
"The 2022 campaign has officially started. It's fun to be back racing at a big regatta again."
Oregon State finished within 57 seconds of first place USTC Oakland, and 16 seconds behind the leading collegiate boat from Dartmouth.
The Beavers are back in action next Sunday at the Portland Fall Classic.
