
Hocker, Sutton Named Student-Athletes of the Month

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State Athletics is proud to announce Josh Hocker and Scout Sutton have been named as the April Student-Athletes of the Month.
Hocker, a senior from Madras, Ore., rowed in the bow seat of the Junior Varsity 8 at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational, which included a win over University of San Diego, last month prior to the season ending early due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hocker, who is majoring in civil engineering, raced in the Beavers' Varsity 4+ at Pac-12 Championships helping his crew to a bronze medal finish in 2019 and he earned Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team honors.
Sutton, a senior from Fort Collins, Colo., has been a fixture in the Beavers' Varsity 8 since her freshman season in 2016-17. A two-time Pac-12 All-Academic First Team honoree, Sutton in on schedule to graduate with a double major in environmental economics and policy and agricultural business management. On the water, Sutton helped OSU secure a victory over Gonzaga in November. Sutton has helped power her V8 crews to sixth-place finishes at Pac-12 Championships in each of the last two years.
Student-athletes are selected each month and are coordinated by the Academics for Student-Athletes staff.
