Beavers Head to California for Pair of Conference Duals

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State Wrestling (5-4, 0-1 Pac 12) is set to make a weekend trip for contests with conference opponents Cal State Bakersfield and No. 21 Stanford. The Beavers first face the Roadrunners on Friday at 7 p.m. PT before turning around to face the Cardinal at 2 p.m. Sunday in Palo Alto.
The Beavers dropped a tightly contested battle against Wyoming inside Gill Coliseum on Friday, Jan. 31. Despite winning four bouts, the Beavers couldn't piece together a late comeback and fell short by a score of 18-13. Grant Willits collected his sixth straight victory and Brandon Kaylor improved to 12-5 in dual meets.

Scouting Cal State Bakersfield
Oregon State leads the all-time series against the Roadrunners, 6-1, and have won the last three contests. Russell Rohlfing is a bright spot at 149 pounds with a 16-7 record and 6-2 mark in dual meets. He is currently slated at No. 26 by TrackWrestling.
Scouting No. 21 Stanford
The Beavers lead the all-time series 27-12 against the Cardinal but have dropped the last two contests. Stanford, ranked No. 21 by the NWCA Coaches' Poll, comes into the match 8-2 with their most notable wins coming over No. 17 North Carolina, Columbia, and Utah Valley. Individually, three Cardinal wrestlers find themselves in the top-10 rankings, per FloWrestling. At 141, freshman Real Woods is ranked No. 9 with a 14-1 record. Redshirt freshman Shane Griffith (165) comes in at No. 7, owning a perfect 21-0 record with 12 bonus-point victories.
Zalesky
In his 14th season with the Beavers, head coach Jim Zalesky has brought the wrestling program to unprecedented heights. One of the sport's winningest coaches, Zalesky's OSU teams have captured seven Pac-10/12 championships and finished either first or second 10 times. He's mentored 14 All-Americans and 32 conference champions. His 139 victories are third-most in school history.
