Four Beavers score in double-figures
CORVALLIS – Four Beavers scored in double-figures as the No. 17 Oregon State women's basketball team took down Washington 75-61 Friday evening at Gill Coliseum.
"Washington is a very talented team, and we knew they would come in confident," said Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck. "Offensively, I like the way we started the game. I thought this was a continuation of the last couple weeks for us – we've been playing good basketball. We're focused, and this was a good effort. We had scoring coming from a variety of different places, and that's the type of basketball we need to play. We got production throughout our lineup, and I'm really proud of this group."
Aleah Goodman hit six 3-pointers in the contest, on her way to a 22-point evening. Taylor Jones went over 20 points for the fifth time in her young career, going for 21 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.
Mikayla Pivec notched her 14th double-double of the season, finishing with 10 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Destiny Slocum tallied 11 points and five assists, while Kat Tudor hit three longballs to end the game with nine points.
As a team the Beavers shot 44.1 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from 3-point range. OSU held a 38-30 advantage in rebounds.
Oregon State jumped out to a 12-7 advantage at the game's first media timeout, and led 18-16 after a quarter of play.
The Beavers used a 7-0 run to go in front 35-26 mid-way through the second period. The Huskies battled back from there to head to the break within two at 40-38.
Washington briefly took the lead in the third quarter, but Oregon State responded with eight unanswered points to go in front 52-45. The Beavers took a 55-51 edge into the closing frame.
Oregon State extended the lead to 12 with just under three minutes to play, and kept things under control from there to take the win by 14.
The regular season will come to a close on Sunday, when the Beavers host Washington State as Oregon State celebrates Senior Day.
