Beavers Return Home to Face Wyoming Friday

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State Wrestling (5-3) returns home after more than two weeks when it hosts No. 33 Wyoming (6-7) on Friday at 7 p.m. (PT) in Gill Coliseum. The match can be viewed live on the Pac-12 Networks as Rich Burk will have the call and Ken Chertow will provide analysis.Â

Turner Time
Ranked as one of the best 133-pounders in the country, redshirt junior Devan Turner boasts an 19-8 record with a 7-1 dual mark heading into Friday's match. Turner has placed in each tournament so far for Oregon State with his best finish coming at the season-opening Mountaineer Invite, where he took the individual title.Â
Willits Earns Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week Honors
Boasting a 16-7 record with a 7-1 mark in dual meets, redshirt sophomore Grant Willits has been consistently impressive at 141-pounds during the 2019-20 campaign. He was named the Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 29, marking the first time he has received this honor after earning two decisions at the Campbell Duals. Willits will look for his sixth straight victory on Friday against Wyhoming's Trevor Jeffries.Â
Zalesky
In his 14th season with the Beavers, head coach Jim Zalesky has brought the wrestling program to unprecedented heights. Â One of the sport's winningest coaches, Zalesky's OSU teams have captured seven Pac-10/12 championships and finished either first or second 10 times. He's mentored 14 All-Americans and 32 conference champions. His 139 victories are third-most in school history.

The Beavers split duals in Buies Creek, N.C., as they defeated Presbyterian (40-6) but fell to Campbell (27-11). Highlighting the day was Brandon Kaylor (125), Grant Willits (141) and J.J. Dixon (197) winning each of their respective bouts. The Beavers began the day by winning nine of ten bouts against Presbyterian to roll to victory and Grant Willits highlighted the day with two decisions.Â

Three grapplers remain in this week's latest rankings as Devan Turner, Colt Doyle and Grant Willits each are represented with Turner ranking as high as No. 13 by FloWrestling. Willits is slated at No. 25 by TrackWrestling while Colt Doyle sits at No. 31 (TOM).Â
Scouting WyomingÂ
Wyoming (6-7. 0-0 Big 12) is currently ranked 33rd by the National Coaches' Poll with their best win coming at North Dakota State on Jan. 10. Montorie Bridges at 133 pounds, has the best ranking for the Cowboys as he has earned a top-10 ranking from the coaches, coming in at No. 7, the highest-rated Big 12 wrestler in the weight class. Bridges, who was a 2018 All-American, leads Wyoming with 23 wins this season and has seven consecutive victories.
